Suntex Marina Investors, a leading player in the luxury marina industry, has partnered with Centerbridge Partners in a joint venture worth over $1.25 billion. This collaboration aims to acquire and develop marinas across the US, focusing on high-end experiences and prime locations. As part of the agreement, Suntex will allocate funds for new acquisitions, capital improvements at existing facilities, and groundbreaking development projects, setting a new standard for luxury marinas.

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, announces the signing of Kimpton Lisbon, the first Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property in the Portuguese capital. Set to open its doors in early 2025, the boutique luxury hotel marks the second Kimpton to come to Portugal, following the signing of Kimpton Algarve São Rafael Atlántico in late 2023.
Food & Wine Magazine, a culinary powerhouse in North America, has published their prestigious Global Tastemakers 2024 List. Liberty Hotels & Resorts announces the launch of a brand new 5-star hotel, Liberty Signa, ready for the May-November season. Michelin‘s new Key ranking system has honored 189 exceptional French hotels, with 24 receiving the highest “Three Keys” distinction. The rating system mirrors Michelin’s renowned restaurant star system and recognises hotels that offer extraordinary experiences, local character and individuality. The esteemed list includes palace hotels, country accommodations, and boutique hotels, and Michelin plans to reveal top luxury hotels in the U.S., Spain, Italy, Japan and Korea throughout 2024.

Scenic Group has revealed plans for Emerald Kaia, a next-generation luxury ocean yacht that will join the Emerald Cruises fleet in April 2026. Queen Anne, the latest addition to the esteemed Cunard fleet, has been officially delivered and marks a new era in luxury maritime travel. The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is projecting a record-breaking year for Travel & Tourism in 2024, with the sector’s global economic contribution set to reach an all-time high of $11.1 trillion. According to the global tourism body’s 2024 Economic Impact Research (EIR), Travel & Tourism will contribute an additional $770BN over its previous record, stamping its authority as a global economic powerhouse, generating one in every 10 dollars worldwide. As the global sector soars past its pre-pandemic prosperity, WTTC expects 142 countries of 185 analysed will be outperforming previous national records.
In partnership with Oxford Economic, WTTC’s latest EIR showcases a sector briming with opportunities, underpinning almost 348MN jobs globally. This represents an increase of more than 13.6MN jobs compared to its highest point in 2019. International visitor spending is expected to come within touching distance of the 2019 peak, to reach $1.89TN, while domestic tourists are forecast to spend more than in any year on record to hit $5.4TN.
Hyatt’s acquisition of the Mr & Mrs Smith collection means it has added more than 700 boutique and luxury hotels and villas to its World of Hyatt points program. This means members can earn and redeem points at unique destinations worldwide, including new countries like Namibia, Fiji and the British Virgin Islands. This adds to Hyatt’s commitment to offer diverse and meaningful travel experiences to its members.
