Atlas Ocean Voyages, a pioneer in yacht expedition cruising, is excited to announce a new partnership with the Global Penguin Society, a renowned organization committed to protecting penguin species and their coastal and marine habitats. Starting with the World Navigator’s Antarctica expedition on November 22, 2024, guests will have the opportunity to explore penguin rookeries and learn about the Society’s research through onboard lectures and guided shore excursions.

“During each Antarctica expedition, the continent’s resident penguin population is the star of the show, and our guests always delight in observing penguin behavior and activities in their natural habitat,” shares James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages. “This partnership will deliver added expert knowledge from the conservationists of the Global Penguin Society, and we look forward to welcoming them onboard to educate all of us.”

The Global Penguin Society is dedicated to safeguarding all 18 penguin species and their ecosystems in the Southern Hemisphere through rigorous scientific research, habitat protection, and educational outreach. Aboard the World Navigator, guests will engage in insightful conversations with fellow explorers, delving into the Society’s research methods. These include collecting biological and ecological data to monitor populations, track migration patterns, and identify conservation threats.

As a Conservation Partner of the Wildlife Conservation Network, the Global Penguin Society benefits from their extensive expertise, resources, and global reach. This collaboration enhances the Society’s capacity to perform critical research, safeguard vital habitats, and execute effective conservation strategies.

Atlas Ocean Voyages is also renewing its collaboration with ORCA, a leading marine conservation charity focused on the study and protection of whales, dolphins, and porpoises worldwide. ORCA’s mission is to involve individuals passionate about marine conservation, encouraging active participation in preserving these incredible creatures. During World Voyager’s 2024 Arctic expeditions, dedicated ocean conservationists will raise awareness, gather crucial scientific data, and engage guests in citizen science projects to help protect whales and dolphins.

This partnership allows Atlas Ocean Voyages guests to become citizen scientists, directly contributing to marine conservation while enjoying remarkable expedition experiences. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops and use ORCA’s Oceanwatchers app to record environmental and sighting information, providing valuable data to understand the behavior and movements of these magnificent marine mammals.

At Atlas Ocean Voyages, we are proud to support the efforts of the Global Penguin Society and ORCA. Through these partnerships, we aim to raise awareness and contribute to the conservation of wildlife and their ecosystems, ensuring the survival and prosperity of these extraordinary species for future generations.
