Hong Kong travelers rejoice! A brand new high-speed sleeper train service has launched, significantly slashing travel times between Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai.

Starting June 15th, zipping from Hong Kong to Beijing takes just 12.5 hours, compared to the previous full-day journey. Similarly, the trip to Shanghai shrinks from a lengthy 19.5 hours to a manageable 11 hours, as announced by MTR Corp, Hong Kong’s mass railway operator.

Currently, the overnight trains operate on a limited schedule, running Fridays to Mondays. While specific pricing details haven’t been released, expect sleeper berths to start around HK$937 (US$120) for Beijing and HK$682 (US$87) for Shanghai, with higher prices likely for more luxurious options.
