Hamad International Airport (DOH) is delighted to celebrate a landmark achievement, serving over 50 million passengers within a 12-month period for the first time since its inception. As the airport marks its 10th year, this milestone underscores its pivotal role as a key global aviation hub.
Located in Qatar, the airport facilitates 25% of its operations through point-to-point passenger flights. This increase is linked to a 58% rise in international visitors to Doha in 2023 compared to the previous year, according to Qatar Tourism’s report. This underscores Doha’s growing status as a top-tier travel destination.
In 2023, Hamad International Airport expanded its network by welcoming three new airline partners and adding four more in the early months of 2024. It connected to 255 destinations last year, covering passenger, cargo, and chartered flights, which enhanced its global connectivity and service portfolio.
The Airport Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East Air Connectivity Ranking 2023 places Doha second in the region for air connectivity, a measure based on destination range, service frequency, and connection quality. This ranking highlights the effectiveness of the airport’s extensive facilities and the major airlines operating from Doha, leveraging their broad international networks.
The ACI report indicates a continuous increase in air connectivity across the Middle East and recommends developing new airport infrastructures to accommodate future demands. Reflecting these insights, Hamad International Airport is progressing with the second phase of its expansion project, aiming to boost passenger capacity and enhance lifestyle amenities.
Hamad International Airport continues to dedicate itself to offering outstanding services and reinforcing its position as a premier global aviation hub. Its ongoing expansion and success affirm its commitment to excellence and innovation in the aviation sector.
