Sabre Corporation, a key software and technology provider in the global travel sector, has renewed its distribution contract with WestJet, a prominent Canadian airline. This extended partnership ensures that Sabre-affiliated agencies continue to access WestJet’s comprehensive offerings, including upcoming New Distribution Capability (NDC) options.

This renewal underscores the shift toward modernized airline retailing. With NDC, Sabre agencies will offer customers enhanced travel options, catering to the growing need for tailored and transparent travel solutions. This approach allows airlines to more effectively showcase their services, offering travelers increased flexibility and personalized options.

As NDC integration progresses, travel agents will gain the capability to manage WestJet’s NDC and traditional EDIFACT offerings through Sabre’s Offer and Order APIs, the Sabre Red 360 point-of-sale system, and the corporate booking platform, GetThere. Further details on the NDC rollout will be announced as the implementation date approaches.

“We are pleased to have reached a multi-year agreement with Sabre to expand our long-standing distribution partnership to cover not only EDIFACT but also NDC content once the technical connectivity has been implemented,” said John Weatherill, Chief Commercial Officer, WestJet. “We rely on a trusted partner like Sabre to service a broad customer base through real-time connectivity to agency and corporate subscribers via the Sabre GDS.”

This agreement showcases Sabre’s ongoing dedication to cultivating valuable partnerships that support and address the varied needs of the global travel ecosystem.

“We’re excited that our relationship with WestJet continues to gain momentum as we enable them to serve a broad scope of travelers,” said Roshan Mendis, Chief Commercial Officer, Sabre Travel Solutions. “We look forward to being part of their continued growth by equipping them with the technology solutions that offer the broadest reach to help them succeed.”
